My program took an excursion to Mérida, the old Roman capital in Spain. Mérida has probably the most glorious Roman ruins outside of Rome, Italy. The museum, which is an architectural feat in itself, has an incredible collection of artifacts.
We visited yet another stadium where prisoners would fight with animals or each other to the death, which totally reminded me of Monty Python Life of Brian.
We also got to see their incredibly preserved theater, which is still used today and is basically acoustically perfect.
Temple that wasn't destroyed after the Romans lost power because the head of the town actually decided to live in it.

One of the aqueducts there. Not the more impressive one, the Aqueduct of Miracles, but it's still super cool, obviously.
When we got back to Sevilla after the day trip, one of the statues had been covered in yarn.
And then that was my day in Mérida!
