Avignon

From Marseilles, Alexis and I took a train to Avignon. However, we woke up a bit late and missed our first train. We were able to get another one free of charge still and get to Avignon for breakfast. Right when we got off the train, we stumbled upon a cool used book market and this awesome telephone booth.

The view of a cathedral from where we sat and had breakfast.

There was a film festival that weekend in Avignon, so there were a bunch of people in the main square outside of the pope's palace advertising their films. People were dancing, playing instruments, etc. It was a fun day.

Huge Jesus on top of the hill by the palace.

Amazing lunch: fruit kebab, gazpacho, melon, egg salad, grain and cheese salad, watermelon, green salad with a rice cake.

On the Pont d'Avignon, the huge medieval bridge.

Avignon is probably one of my favorite places I've visited in France. It's an old town (medieval times), and there's lavender in basically every store, which is cool. I bought my host mom lavender flavored liquor, which she loved. It was sad we were only there on a Sunday because everything was closed. It must be even better on other days.
